The Lead LPN Outpatient
Coordinates, plans, and organizes clinical activities in the physician office under the direction of the Site Manager. Participates in patient care delivery, develops clinical staff schedules, and manages patient flow. Complies with all federal, state, local, Carilion Clinic, and departmental policies and standards.
Assists the Site Manager in identifying, reviewing, and recommending improvements to clinical care and outcomes. Serves as a liaison between the Site Manager and clinical staff.
Supports recruitment, selection, and retention activities for clinical staff.
Coordinates onsite orientation for new clinical staff and completes clinical skills and orientation checklists in collaboration with the Site Manager. Assists with annual competency validation and performance evaluations and ensures completion of required in-services.
Supports ongoing staff performance improvement, development, and addresses performance concerns through coaching and education.
Researches and recommends equipment purchases, including pricing and vendor options. Orders and maintains supplies and equipment and coordinates maintenance as needed. Maintains clinical areas, including exam, treatment, x-ray, and lab spaces as applicable.
Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and MSDS requirements. Trains staff on safety practices and ensures completion of annual health requirements.
Assists with referral authorizations, specialist consultations, and preauthorizations for tests and ancillary services as needed.
Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a physician office setting required.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required. AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Basic computer skills required, including the ability to utilize electronic patient records. Strong problem-solving skills.

Compensation Range:
$23.23 - $32.52Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
