LPN - PRN

Schedule

12 hour shifts, working PRN- AS NEEDED for Day and/or Night Shift: 6:00am-6:30pm or 6:30pm-6:00am. Note that 40 hours per week is not promised.

Position Summary

Administer medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within the scope of the license. Medications may be in a variety of forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, suppository, etc. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, and catheter care.

Duties

• Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments.
• Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available.
• Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding the resident's medical, social, functional, and other needs.
• Participate in the receiving and giving of shift reports.
• Communicate with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on a newly admitted resident.
• Assist with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans.
• Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress.
• Participate in our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings.

• Practices and procedures for implementing treatment plans for resident/patient care.
• Practices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines.
• Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing general practical nursing practices and the security and control of medical supplies and medications and dispensing thereof.
