The Telemetry LPN/Cardiac Monitor Technician provides continuous cardiac rhythm surveillance for patients throughout the hospital. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, this role monitors, interprets, and documents cardiac rhythms, promptly recognizing and reporting changes that may indicate clinical deterioration. As part of a collaborative care team, the Telemetry LPN supports patient safety by maintaining accurate rhythm records, responding appropriately to alarms, and communicating clearly and effectively with nursing and medical staff to support timely clinical intervention and coordinated patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor cardiac telemetry screens to identify rhythm changes, arrhythmias, or abnormal patterns and promptly notify RN or provider.
Document rhythm strips, events, and variances according to departmental standards and maintain accurate records.
Respond to monitor alarms and collaborate with nursing staff to verify patient status and support timely clinical response.
Maintain awareness of patient assignments, status updates, and telemetry orders to ensure appropriate monitoring.
Assist with basic patient care tasks within the LPN scope of practice when assigned to the clinical unit.
Communicate clearly with team members, support a coordinated workflow, and contribute to a safe patient environment.
