We are currently looking for a Lumber Receiving Clerk for the Colton Area.

Schedule: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Lumber Receiving Clerk - Role Overview

The Lumber Receiving Clerk plays a key role in supporting receiving operations by ensuring all incoming materials are accurately verified, documented, and communicated. This position helps maintain inventory accuracy and improve overall operational efficiency.

Key Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong math skills, with the ability to perform accurate calculations related to quantities, units, and conversions.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in receiving and documentation.
  • Ability to maintain organized and accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with vendors, drivers, purchasing, and accounting teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced yard environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Previous experience is preferred but not required. Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling trucking appointments and coordinating deliveries.
  • Receiving incoming materials and verifying information against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Identifying and resolving invoice discrepancies in collaboration with Accounts Payable.
  • Investigating and reporting receiving errors, including shortages, damages, or mis-shipments.
  • Requesting and maintaining Proof of Deliveries (PODs).
  • Conducting daily yard walks and preparing yard/inventory reports (if hired).
  • Creating and managing freight purchase orders (Freight POs).
  • Monitoring and checking order status.

Objective

This role is essential in maintaining accurate inventory, minimizing discrepancies, and ensuring smooth communication between departments. Strong attention to detail, organization, and consistency in following procedures will be key to success in this position.
