Key Responsibilities:
Use a lute/rake to level and smooth hot mix asphalt behind the paver
Ensure proper joints, edges, and transitions are formed according to project specifications
Assist with handwork in tight or hard-to-reach areas where paving equipment cannot operate
Maintain awareness of mat temperature and work quickly to preserve material quality
Support paving crew with general labor tasks as needed
Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in asphalt paving, preferably on heavy highway projects
Skilled in hand raking and lute work for finish paving
Ability to work in hot, physically demanding conditions
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as required
Compensation: Based on experience $20-24/hr+ benefits
