Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience as a Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVCG) Simulation Technician Fellow, supporting mission‑critical training operations at JBER in Anchorage, Alaska.
The Fellow will receive structured training and exposure to simulation system operation, database development, exercise support planning, foundational system administration concepts, and instructional delivery. Working alongside experienced simulation technicians and military training staff, the participant will learn how LVCG systems are employed to stimulate command‑and‑control environments and support unit training from individual to collective levels.
This Fellowship is designed to build foundational readiness for future employment as a full‑time LVCG Technician, Senior.
HOW AN LVCG SIMULATION TECHNICIAN FELLOW WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Train on operating Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming (LVCG) simulation systems in support of military training events and exercises.
Learn to set up, configure, troubleshoot, and operate LVCG system components, networks, and supporting hardware.
Support the development, update, and maintenance of training support packages integrating materials and products used in LVCG environments.
Assist in composing, building, and installing simulation databases under the direction of senior technicians and exercise planners.
Gain exposure to how simulation systems interface with Mission Command systems to provide realistic operational stimuli.
Learn foundational concepts related to Linux and Windows‑based simulation server environments, virtualization platforms, and networked training systems.
Gain experience delivering classroom instruction, system familiarization, and over‑the‑shoulder support to training audiences.
Participate in exercise design, planning, preparation, execution, and recovery activities to ensure LVCG systems meet training objectives.
Participate in After Action Review (AAR) processes to understand how simulation outcomes support training objectives.
Support documentation and knowledge management activities, including updating training materials, maintaining training records, and tracking participant progress and training effectiveness.
Collaborate with instructors and planners to improve training products, course content, and exercise support procedures.
Assist in special projects and evolving LVCG mission requirements as skill progression allows.
Gain exposure to military simulation models, including JLCCTC‑MRF, WARSIM, JCATS, DxTRS, VBS3, and other Army virtual/constructive systems.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
BS/BA in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience
Certifications:
IAT I or DCWF equivalent preferred.
Experience:
5+ years of related Military experience.
Experience participating in military training events, simulations, operations, or mission planning is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with command‑and‑control systems, training environments, or unit readiness activities is advantageous.
Technical & Professional Skills:
Understanding of military training processes, exercise support, or operational workflows.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to learn technical systems, simulation models, and training software.
Foundational understanding of computer systems or networks preferred.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to support instructional environments.
Ability to work in fast‑paced, training‑focused environments and collaborate with diverse teams.
Active Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
On‑site attendance at customer site in Anchorage, AK.
Fellowship duration aligned with DoW SkillBridge requirements.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
DoW SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoW SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.
