POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as a shift resource to nursing and nursing services support staff. Assists in ensuring compliance with the established policies and procedures of the University Health and Detention Health Care Services. Serves as a designated mentor for the training and development of nursing and support staff, in collaboration with the Supervisor and Department Educator. Under the supervision of the RN Clinic Supervisor and Clinical Nursing Director, working collaboratively with all healthcare providers and non-healthcare provider staff. Also receives clinical supervision from staff RNs. Supports and adheres to University Health (UH) and Detention Health Care Services (DHCS) policies and procedures. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with UH mission, vision and values. Promotes excellent internal and external customer relations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Must have at least two years experience in health care delivery within a correctional setting. Two years experience in a supervisory/management position within a health care setting. Certification in Correctional Health Care is preferred.

LICENSURE

Must possess a current license to practice Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card
