Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction

About the Role

The School LVN supports student learning by promoting and protecting student health. This role focuses on early identification of health concerns, prevention of complications, and ensuring students can safely access their educational programs.

Transportation Nurse Route Options

• Catheryn Gates Route: 7:05 AM – 8:45 AM 11:40 AM – 1:35 PM

• Onorato Route: 6:45 AM – 9:10 AM 11:40 AM – 1:50 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Student Health Assessment — Evaluate student health and developmental status to identify conditions that may impact learning.

• Special Education Support — Obtain health histories, interpret medical findings, and contribute to Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPs).

• Health Education — Participate in curriculum development and serve as a health resource for teachers and students.

• Counseling & Family Support —

  • Assist families in accessing appropriate medical and community services.

  • Address health‑related attendance concerns.

  • Support students and families in understanding physical, mental, and social limitations.

• Screenings & Follow‑Up — Conduct mandated health screenings and guide families on next steps.

• Medication Administration — Administer or supervise medication per California law.

• Health Supplies Management — Maintain necessary medical supplies and equipment at assigned sites.

• Emergency Care — Provide first aid, respond to emergencies, complete accident reports, and follow up with families.

• Collaboration — Work closely with principals, teachers, and district staff to support student health needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active California LVN License

• Current CPR/BLS certification

• Ability to work assigned summer schedule and transportation routes

• Experience with school‑age children preferred
