Hours 2nd Shift: 4:00 pm - 11:30 pm M-Th and Occasional Fridays.

Purpose General Laborer is to assist the skilled operator in established methods and procedures in the production of the products of this plant.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Expectations and Performance Measures

  • Assist machine operators in the production process.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify operators of any malfunctions.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually or using hoists.
  • Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
  • Mark or tag identification on parts.
  • Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
  • Help production workers by performing duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, or cleaning work areas and equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment.
  • Record information such as the number of products tested, meter readings, or dates and times of product production.
  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Continuous Training

Hourly Production & Hourly Maintenance The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
