Lyceum TutorsPart-Time Position 2026-2027 School YearPorter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, independent, coeducational day school serving approximately 1,050 students in Grades 1-12. Porter-Gaud also includes The O'Quinn Schools of Porter-Gaud, serving approximately 620 students across two campuses in programs for two-year-olds through 5K.The Lyceum, Porter-Gaud's tutoring center, provides individualized academic support for students in Grades 1-12. The Lyceum serves approximately 175 tutoring sessions each week and offers additional academic programming throughout the year, including exam preparation, Extended Day workshops, and Camp Cyclone summer programs.Porter-Gaud School is seeking qualified, enthusiastic tutors to join the Lyceum team for the 2026-2027 school year, with opportunities to continue tutoring during the summer.Position SummaryLyceum Tutors provide individualized and small-group academic support to students while partnering with families and faculty to promote student success. Tutors work in a collaborative environment and have the flexibility to create schedules that fit their availability.Current openings include:Middle School and Upper School MathMiddle School and Upper School EnglishMiddle School and Upper School ScienceMiddle School and Upper School HistoryOrton-Gillingham SpecialistsEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized tutoring to students in assigned subject areas.Develop positive relationships with students while encouraging academic growth and confidence.Communicate professionally with Lyceum leadership regarding student progress and scheduling.Utilize the School's instructional technology and virtual learning platforms when appropriate.Maintain accurate tutoring schedules and records.Support additional Lyceum programming throughout the year, including:December and May exam preparation sessionsExtended Day academic workshopsCamp Cyclone summer programs (optional opportunities)Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the Lyceum.QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Ability to pass a criminal background check.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating with faculty and Lyceum staff.PreferredPrevious classroom teaching experience.Previous tutoring experience.Specialized training or certification in Orton-Gillingham or similar reading intervention programs (for literacy positions).Desired CharacteristicsPassion for working with students.Ability to differentiate instruction based on individual student needs.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Strong organizational skills and reliability.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.Flexibility to work before, during, or after the school day based on student needs.Salary: Competitive session rate commensurate with education and experience.For additional information about the Lyceum, please visit: https://www.portergaud.edu/academics/lyceumPorter-Gaud is a Christian community that seeks to love and serve faculty, staff, students, and families of all faith backgrounds.
