This role ensures compliance with AWS D1.1, AISC requirements, and project specifications through inspections, documentation, and coordination with production and project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform quality control inspections of structural steel welding in shop and field environmentsInspect welds for compliance with AWS D1.1, drawings, and project specificationsVerify welder qualifications, WPS, and PQRsInspect fit-up, joint preparation, preheat, interpass temperatures, and finished weldsReview material certifications (MTRs) and maintain material traceabilityCoordinate, witness, and review NDT results as requiredDocument nonconformances and verify corrective actionsMaintain inspection reports and quality records for project closeoutSupport AISC certification requirements and internal/external auditsRequired QualificationsCurrent AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificationExperience in structural steel fabrication and/or erectionWorking knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - SteelAbility to read structural drawings, shop drawings, and welding symbolsStrong documentation and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in an AISC-certified fabrication shopNDT Level II certification (UT, MT, PT)Experience with bolting inspection (RCSC)Work EnvironmentShop and subcontractor inspections; ability to work around active fabrication areas.M&J is a "drug-free" workplace which tests employees when hired and randomly for existing employeesCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay and benefits based on experience
