Job Description

Role Summary

The role will be held by an academic and/or practitioner who has in-depth knowledge on one or more of the subjects outlined below and can actively contribute to knowledge transfer within their programme and university.

Job Purpose

To conduct and contribute to learning and teaching, and knowledge transfer to the benefit of students, the School, the University and the wider community.

Main responsibilities

Learning and teaching

• Deliver high quality teaching to students at postgraduate level

• Identify best and innovative practices in learning and teaching and build them into personal teaching practice

• Ensure that personal research, knowledge and/or experience of the field inform personal teaching practice

• Contribute actively to initiatives which identify new and best practice in teaching and learning and promote it across the faculty and institution

• Enhance student experience and outcomes

• Provide academic advice and counselling

• Liaise closely with teaching, technical and administrative staff as appropriate to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements:

• Ability to teach one or more of the following subjects:

• Global Security

• Foreign Policy: Geopolitical Risks in a Changing World Order

• Critical Skills in Diplomatic Statecraft and Intelligence

• International Political Economy of Media

• Excellent academic qualifications in the fields of politics, international relations or any other field demonstrating exposure to and knowledge of the mentioned subjects.

• Evidence of competence in the fields through teaching and/or practice

• High level of written, oral and interpersonal skills

Desirable requirements:

• Ability to teach more than one of the above subject

• Publication record supporting competence in any of the above mentioned fields.
