UW Medical Center-Montlake - Heart Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C).

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Day Shift

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Medical Assistant for the Advanced Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Institute programs practices in the outpatient care setting working alongside RN Coordinators to support patients and their needs throughout their care continuum.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides between-visit-care support for the aligned teams.
  • Reviews and inputs lab results.
  • Assists with clinic prep by reviewing clinic schedules and pending orders for heart failure patients and releasing orders for ventricular assist device patients.
  • Appropriately documents findings and interventions in the patient's medical record.
  • Requests outside records and imaging and uploads these to electronic medical records.
  • Directly communicate with patients regarding upcoming appointments, studies, plans of care, and procedures.
  • Prepares equipment for VAD implants.
  • Manages VAD equipment, orders equipment, and accurately tracks VAD inventory.
  • Performs role related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in a health care setting preferred.
