Machine Control Field Installer and Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Installation: Perform field and shop installations of Topcon 2D/3D machine control components (sensors, GNSS receivers, total station targets, hydraulic interfaces, wiring harnesses, and display control boxes) on heavy construction equipment.
• Calibration & Setup: Calibrate, tune, and test machine control components and hydraulic responses to ensure precise operation according to job site specs.
• Diagnostics & Field Support: Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting to diagnose hardware, electrical, radio, GNSS, and hydraulic/interface issues.
• Customer Training: Provide hands-on operational support and training to equipment operators, superintendents, and site managers.
• Inventory Control: Maintain and update machine-control inventory.
• Maintenance & Repair: Repair equipment components and systems with minimal assistance or supervision.
• Safety & Standards: Follow company safety practices, maintain a clean working area, handle company tools responsibly, and follow safe work procedures at all times.
• Documentation: Complete service reports, installation sign-offs, and customer support logs accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate Degree or technical certificate in Electronics, Mechatronics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or Survey Technology preferred.
• 1–3+ years of experience with 2D/3D machine control systems (Topcon or Trimble preferred)
• Strong understanding of basic electronic theory, DC/AC circuits, solid-state electronics, and digital circuits.
• Proficiency using electronics test equipment (multimeters, power meters, and diagnostic software).
• Solid mechanical aptitude and comfort working around heavy earthmoving machinery.
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Preferred:

• Experience with machine hydraulics.
• Familiarity with Topcon 3D-MC, Pocket 3D, or MAGNET software.
• Basic knowledge of GNSS, base stations, cellular modems, and field radios.
• General understanding of the earthmoving construction industry.
