This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirits Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeings three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercials core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.

Position Responsibilities: Set up, fabricate, and verify parts by operating conventional and computerized numerical controlled (CNC) machines and mediums or secondary hand and power tool operations such as hand or power feed drill presses, numerical milling, profiling machines, horizontal and/or jig boring mills, various types of milling machines, engine lathes and determine and select cutting tools and fixtures for Machining aircraft parts.

Representative Duties:

• Plan sequences of operations and method of setup including method of holding and aligning work.
• Determine tooling, speeds, feeds, and depth of drilling: determine dimensions, tolerances, operations to be performed, operational sequences and methods.
• Setup and operate four or more axis numerical controlled milling in manual and automatic modes to proof new or revised numerical control tapes.
• Setup and operate lathes to machine tooling and experimental parts to exacting tolerances and coordinated dimensions.
• Setup and operate boring mills to perform straight and single angle boring, line boring, counter boring, drilling, reaming, tapping, face and radii milling and profiling.
• Setup and operate milling machines to perform work to close tolerances with the aid of all special holding fixtures and attachments.
• Use rotary tables, dividing or indexing heads, slotting attachments and subheads to perform operations such as milling compound/ multiple/single angles. Radii, slab, and end milling, straddle and gang milling, splines, serrations, keyways, gears, and sprockets.
• Improvise and adapt tooling and holding fixtures as necessary.
• Setup and operate engine lathe to turn, face, bore, drill, groove, ream, chamfer, and tap parts to close tolerance: cut or chase all types of threads by use of taps and dies, cut straight or single lead thread by use of single cutting toll; machine angles and radius.
• Check parts for correct finish and dimensions using height gages, gauge blocks, micrometers, calipers and protractors, and other precession tools.

• Must be willing and able to work any shift.

Summary Pay Range: $23.12/hour, with potential to earn up to $31.49/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
