    Location Description

    Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade.

    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for complying with all Safety work rules at all times and reinforcing Safety as a Core Value. The employee must ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety and Quality are followed consistently to reduce product and process variability.

    The primary purpose of the Loader position is to supply the machines with flats of shell eggs, ensuring production lines never run out while maintaining production pace. Loaders are responsible for supplying optiloader conveyors with flats of shell eggs and must be able to safely lift and carry six flats of eggs at a time (approximately 20-30 lbs.).

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accountable for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health into all job duties and tasks.
    • Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality standards are met. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety or quality.
    • Continuously supply optiloader conveyors with flats of shell eggs, safely lifting and transporting up to six flats at a time from nearby skids.
    • Remove and stack dividers or skid sheets from between flats of eggs and place them in designated areas.
    • Remove and stack empty skids in designated areas.
    • Remove empty flats from the optiloader machine and stack them in designated areas.
    • Supply candlers with flats of fill-in eggs as needed.
    • Assist in monitoring the optiloader machine and removing jams when necessary.
    • Follow safe work practices, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality standards are met to maintain SQF certification. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, product quality, or employee safety.
    • Maintain a positive work environment by communicating and interacting professionally with customers, co-workers, and management.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • No prior experience or training required.
    • Ability to read and recognize basic words and simple numerical sequences.
    • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide using tens and hundreds.
    • Ability to perform basic calculations using units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
    • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with routine problems involving one variable in standardized situations.
    • Ability to safely lift and move empty skids weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

    • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, turn, and carry approximately 20-30 lbs. or six flats of eggs repeatedly throughout the shift.
    • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
    • Ability to work indoors in a wet and humid environment.
    • Ability to climb and travel stairs safely.
    • Ability to work well with others and be a team player.
    • Valid driver's license preferred.
    • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety regulations.
    • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including a bump cap, earplugs, and steel-toe boots.
    • Ability to operate equipment and tools required for the position.
