We are seeking a motivated and dependable
Machine Operator to join a leading manufacturer on
1st Shift (6am-2: 30pm). This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, have strong mechanical aptitude, and are committed to safety and quality.
In this role, you will assist with the setup and operation of slitting machinery used to produce materials that meet customer specifications. Through extensive on-the-job training, you will develop the skills needed to operate the machine independently and become a valuable member of the production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up and operating slitting machines according to work orders and customer specifications.
- Load materials onto machines and make adjustments based on material requirements.
- Package, handle, and protect finished products.
- Assist operators during machine setup and production runs.
- Inspect, calibrate, and verify machine setup and operation.
- Monitor machine controls, gauges, and production processes to identify material defects or equipment malfunctions.
- Complete work orders and production reports accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain continuous attention and awareness while operating equipment to ensure a safe work environment.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities to learn other production processes and positions.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Basic mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand specifications and work orders.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as:
- Rulers
- Calipers
- Dial indicators
- Micrometers
- Scales
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different production functions.
Preferred:
- Previous slitting machine experience.
- Experience working with metal products and industrial machinery.
- Tow motor (forklift) driving experience.
- Forklift certification.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
- Use hands and manual dexterity to operate machinery and hand tools.
- Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or move objects over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and other industrial conditions.
- Must possess strong visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color recognition, and peripheral vision.
