    Do you have experience or education with machining and reading blueprints? Harrison Steel has an opening on second shift in its machine shop for Machinists. This position is responsible for setting up and using various machine tools including mills, horizontal- and vertical-lathes, and machining centers to machine castings to tight tolerances. Both manual and CNC tools are used, and knowledge of CNC programs is helpful but not required. As this position will also drive a fork truck to supply its own castings, an active driver's license is required.Qualifications and SkillsStrong mechanical aptitudePrevious machining education or experienceBasic blueprint reading skillsGood problem solving skills and knowledge of safety practicesHigh level of personal accountabilityWork Environment:The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, extreme heat and fumes or airborne particles, and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Also exposure to outdoor weather conditions, non-weather related extreme cold, water and humidity, and the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The usual noise level is very loud. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
