POSITION SUMMARY
The Custom Seal Material Handler supports the Custom Seals department by coordinating materials, staging production orders, performing secondary operations, maintaining inventory accuracy, and preparing completed orders for shipment or further processing.
The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, basic manufacturing or material-handling experience, and the ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers. This position requires accurate recordkeeping, safe work practices, and adherence to established quality and production procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Create and manage manufacturing orders using the M3 system.
● Stage raw materials and components according to the daily production schedule and department priorities.
● Perform secondary operations, including:
● Deburring
● O-ring assembly
● Splitting
● Other finishing and assembly activities
● Update material usage, inventory transactions, and production information in the Infor system.
● Inspect finished parts using calipers and other measuring equipment.
● Verify product quality and identify nonconforming materials or components.
● Close completed work orders and print required labels for each component.
● Kit components for completed orders when required.
● Perform weekly cycle counts and investigate or document inventory discrepancies.
● Cut incoming billets into six-inch lengths as needed.
● Maintain accurate identification and traceability of raw materials and finished components.
● Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
● Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required personal protective equipment guidelines.
● Complete required production, quality, inventory, and safety documentation.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
● Previous experience in material handling, manufacturing, warehousing, assembly, or production preferred.
● Ability to read and use calipers and other precision measuring equipment.
● Ability to perform basic visual and dimensional inspections.
● Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use M3 and Infor systems.
● Ability to accurately identify, handle, and track raw materials and components.
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
● Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
● Ability to work safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.
● Reliable attendance and a commitment to meeting production and quality expectations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and involves material handling, production support, secondary assembly, inspection, inventory control, labeling, and billet cutting. The employee may be required to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, lift and move materials, and perform repetitive hand movements.
Employees must follow all required safety procedures, housekeeping standards, quality requirements, and personal protective equipment guidelines.
