Description
Job Summary:
The Machine Operator Assistant supports the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment by assisting machine operators with machine setup, material handling, quality inspections, and housekeeping.
This position plays an important role in maintaining production schedules while ensuring product quality and workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
Assist the machine operator with machine setup, changeovers, and production runs.
Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
Monitor product quality and report defects or equipment issues to the operator.
Perform basic quality inspections using measuring devices and visual inspection.
Remove scrap and keep the work area clean and organized.
Package, label, stack, and prepare finished products for shipment.
Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies.
Support preventative maintenance activities as directed.
Maintain accurate production and quality records.
Work with team members to meet production goals and minimize downtime.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred but not required.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to read work orders and follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math and measurement skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
Manufacturing or corrugated packaging experience.
Forklift experience (or willingness to become certified).
Strong attention to detail.
Good attendance and reliability.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Push, pull, bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift.
Ability to work around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
Willingness to work overtime and various shifts as needed.
