HireLevel is looking for a VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) Machinist in Carrier Mills, IL
You will work in a production-driven environment, machining components that support fabrication and field operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances.

Shift: Monday Through Friday: 4:00pm – 12:00am

Responsibilities of CNC VTL Machinist:
Machining & Setup
• Set up and operate Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) for large components
• Machine parts to required specifications and tolerances
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds
Quality & Inspection
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and tolerances
• Identify and correct machining issues as needed
Shop Operations
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Work with team members to meet production goals
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Requirements Qualifications:
• Experience operating VTL or similar large machining equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Strong understanding of machining processes and measurements
• Experience working with large, heavy components
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• CNC VTL experience
• Experience machining large diameter components (5 ft+ preferred)
• Experience in mining, heavy equipment, or industrial environments
• Basic programming or editing experience (G-code or similar)
