Machine Operator Position Summary
GLS is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Operator to join our production team. The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to manufacture high-quality strapping products. This position plays a key role in meeting production goals while ensuring quality standards and workplace safety are maintained.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate production machinery according to established procedures.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.
Load raw materials and remove finished products from production equipment.
Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions or production issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
Complete production reports and maintain accurate documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist with changeovers, packaging, labeling, and other production duties as needed.
Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily production goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Ability to read work instructions and follow standard operating procedures.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
Dependable attendance and a positive attitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Comfortable working around moving machinery while following all safety protocols.
Work Environment
Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, moving mechanical parts, noise, and varying temperatures.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
