Role Type: 100% onsite; Must be able to lift 50lbs

Role Objective

Incumbents of this role tend to basic line machinery and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation, following production/process specifications or instructions as documented and directed. Incumbents monitor meters, gauges, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications, while performing all work in accordance with established safety and quality procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Expected to meet the daily production schedule.
  • Performs minor operation and changeover procedures and assists maintenance on major changeovers.
  • Verifies availability of required components, sub-assemblies and supplies at work station for upcoming and current orders.
  • Retrieve required components for production orders from staging area, back flush or Kanban.
  • Functions as part of production crew to load equipment with necessary production components such as, but not limited to; caps, bottles, film, pumps, labels and shippers.
  • Reconciles and returns remaining components to the locator after production runs.
  • Assists the Production Leader to perform quality checks such as; weight checks, torque checks, visual inspection, accuracy of counts, skid tags, use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) charting (when applicable) and pallet patterns.
  • Maintains line and equipment within housekeeping and cleanliness guidelines.
  • Maintains operating records as required. Includes maintaining machine log, check lists, books and other company records for auditing purposes according to relevant standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Starts and stops machines (utilizing the emergency E-stop) and complies with lock-out/tag-out procedures, alerting maintenance of any malfunction.
  • Must be familiar and able to operate machine control panels and touch screens; digital communication equipment, and is able to recognize system errors and faults.
  • Assists with changeovers and general upkeep of line equipment; adjusting rails, set and operation of glue and tape machines, counting, perform component reconciliation, printer set-up and basic operation (Fox Jet, Laser Coder, Video Jet) and boxing surplus components.
  • Troubleshoots any malfunctions and report abnormalities to the Production Leader/Supervisor and Maintenance. Makes minor adjustments to equipment within written work instructions (WIS).
  • Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), safety and housekeeping requirements. May train others as assigned.
  • Required to work on production lines as needed and able to perform all manual functions.

Education and Experience

Proficiency will be obtained through on-the-job training. Requires previous mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of testing equipment and ability to operate this equipment. Ability to train others through on-the-job training.
