This position is responsible for operating various types of machinery and carrying out the daily tasks assigned by the supervisor. The operator has the ability to successfully setup and operate the machinery by following standard safety, quality, and processing procedures. This position works closely with supervision and planning on the full scope of projects moving through the department. Operator must be flexible and adaptable to assignment changes and will jump in and help when needed. This position is also required to work in a safe and efficient manner and produce products in line with quality standards.


SAFETY

- Follow standardized work processes and adhere to safe work practices.

- Inspect machines/tools prior to use and understand safety interlocks and light curtains.

- Proactive communication of potential safety hazards and risks.

- Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, glasses, ear plugs, and safety toe shoes).


QUALITY

- Accurately operate and read tape measure, calipers, squaring table, protractor, and feeler gauges.

- Demonstrate QC part specification knowledge and capable of checking product against drawings and visual inspection standards.

- Accurately complete quality check sheets and understand frequency of inspection criteria.

- Proactive in locating potential quality issues before non-conformity is produced.

- Understand the negative effects of non-conforming raw material in processing.

- No consistent issues in quality defects during processing.


PRODUCTION

- Good attendance and able to work overtime when necessary.

- Communicate with material handlers to provide accurate material at the machine, preventing downtime.

- Full understanding of machine setups (tooling/material/parameters), and able to setup without assistance.

- Able to operate machinery alone to SOP, efficiency, and quality standards.

- Able to assemble and package finished good materials.

- Accurate data input into ERP system for operation time, yield, scrap, and material consumptions.

- Maintaining a clean and organized workplace on a daily basis (5S standards).

- Understanding companywide and departmental metrics and plan work according to meet those goals.

- Work as a team to aid others in upholding and maintaining departmental standards including quality, production, and on-time delivery.

- Checking drawings/blueprints to ensure quality on first piece.

- Full understanding of information on job traveler and quality documentation.

- Able troubleshoot minor quality and machine issues without support of complimentary departments.


High School Diploma or GED

3+ years in a manufacturing environment

SAP and EWM application - -

Basic knowledge of production procedures - --

Must have an excellent attendance record - --

Ability to use email in a professional work environment along with proper email etiquette - --

Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner via phone, email, or personal interaction with both internal employees and outside vendors and customers

Analytical and Troubleshooting Skills

Hours for this position are 2pm -12am, Mon - Thu

Hourly rate is $26/hr + $1 shift differential
