Job Title:Machine Operator Department: 51-Direct Labor-Production Reports To: Derek Sampson FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Monticello Pay: $17.50-$19.10 Shift: 5am-3:30pm Job Description: Operates and controls machines to manufacture components. Loads components in the machine, cycles machine and detects changes or malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Adjust or change tools as needed. The position runs production lots, communicates productions runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Prepare and operate machining equipment to perform tasks such as drilling, facing, tapping, threading, etc.
- Understand specifications of the task and desired results by reading mechanical drawings.
- Prepare and load raw materials onto the machines.
- Perform all machine operations detecting and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions.
- Regularly performs turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, and threading tasks.
- Supervise the machines while they execute the task and adjust as necessary to produce a better result.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly, perform efficient quality.
- Perform multiple functions including changeover, tool tracking and changes, machine set up, etc. with thorough understanding of all equipment operations.
- Perform inspection of machine components.
- Check, maintain, and clean machinery daily to ensure functionality.
- Operate forklift.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, and orderly condition.
- Follow safety and ISO procedures.
Supervisory Skills Qualifications - Skills in operating precision measuring tools, such as micrometers and calipers
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings and make required measurements
- Ability to follow written work instructions
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
- Good communication abilities
- Must have a current driver's license and able to obtain forklift license
- Ability to operate metal working equipment such as lathes, drill presses etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Ability to understand and used proportions, fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions either written, verbal, or in diagram form.
- Ability to read and understand documents, drawings, operation or maintenance manuals
- Ability to speak clearly and competently to supervisor and other employees
Education - High school degree or equivalent degree
- Three or more years' related experience.
Physical Requirements - Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger in dexterous way, handle, or feel items; and reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
- Must be able to sit, climb, stand or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must have the ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to see close distance ranges, far distance ranges, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision
- Must be able to tolerate elevated noise levels daily
- Must be able to tolerate outside working weather conditions and in some cases oil and grease.
