Job Title: Machine Operator
Department: Production
Reports To (Title): Operations Supervisor
Schedule: 1st Shift   Monday thru Friday
                                   5am-1:30pm

Operator Position Summary

Operator is responsible for operating various notching presses throughout the workday. This role requires  loading and unloading parts, aligning materials, and performing basic inspection checks to ensure quality standards are met. The operator follows all safety protocols, verifies that equipment is fully operational, and ensures all materials needed for daily production are available. Accurate production reporting through the computer system and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workstation are essential components of the role.

Essential Job Duties

  • Review job travelers, workpieces, packaging instructions, and blueprints to determine required processes, materials, machines, tooling, and production sequence.
  • Set up and support ancillary production equipment, including conveyors, feed lines, tooling sensors, safety devices, and stacking systems.
  • Communicate process details and production information effectively to press operators.
  • Identify and investigate machine or equipment malfunctions and perform adjustments or escalate troubleshooting as needed.
  • Follow all safety regulations and safe operating procedures related to press operation.
  • Retain the last-piece sample and scrap strip from production dies, record die condition, and submit documentation or parts as required.
  • Move, handle, and load materials to the press once properly trained and certified.
  • Accurately enter labor, quality, and production data into the data collection system.
  • Measure material accurately using a micrometer (MIC).
  • Work independently or collaboratively with a co-worker as needed.
  • Meet production goals by following established schedules and work standard.

Required Qualifications

  • No prior experience required; this is an entry-level opportunity
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor machine sounds to identify changes or performance issues
  • Basic mathematical and problem-solving skill.
