We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Machine Operator to join our team at our facility in Asheville, NC. This role reports to the Production Supervisor and is ideal for individuals who are safety-focused, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay & Schedule:

  • Pay Rate: $24.83 per hour
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 9:00 PM - 9:00 AM
  • Bi-weekly pay

Job Summary:

We're seeking energetic individuals with a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement while operating extrusion equipment used to manufacture plastic pipe products. This position plays an important role in helping the plant achieve its safety, quality, production, and efficiency goals while ensuring products meet company standards for reliability, usability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment through training, adherence to company policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform inspection activities using PI tables, micrometers, and ovality gauges.
  • Conduct quality testing, including skin testing and impact testing.
  • Identify quality concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Investigate products deemed non-conforming and support resolution efforts.
  • Make adjustments to the extrusion process to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities on the production line, including cleaning vents and equipment.
  • Assist with production material trials and new product introductions.
  • Monitor output and operating conditions to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of equipment operation, safety features, and process requirements.
  • Demonstrate competency in Packager duties and Packager A activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with production personnel and team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous Machine Operator experience preferred.
  • Experience performing Packager duties.
  • Experience using PI tables, micrometers, and ovality gauges preferred.
  • Experience using hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing plant environment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Routine standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to moving machinery, repetitive motion, elevated noise levels, and powered industrial equipment.
  • Work performed in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Frequent sensory attention and multitasking required.
  • Regular production demands requiring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other required safety equipment.
