Position Summary

The Machine Setup & Operator I is responsible for efficiently and safely setting up and operating the various pieces of production equipment within the facility. An operator in this position is expected to work in a hands-on fashion, to take ownership of the quality and quantity of product produced during their shift, and to be actively involved in continual process improvements.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 4:30am - 3:00pm

Pay: $15-$17/hour

Location: Bowerston, OH

Essential Responsibilities

Sets up, adjusts, and operates equipment including moulders, lathes, automatic turning lathes, glue press, finger jointer, routers and other ancillary equipment needed to shape, profile, turn or otherwise fabricate products made from wood material.
Reads work orders and examines product specifications to determine setup procedures, material to be used, and proper run sequence.
Selects and installs cutting heads and/or tooling on equipment according to profile and other specifications.
Verifies characteristics of materials in process, using gauges, rulers, calipers, templates, schedules, and work instructions to ensure conformance to specifications.
Inspects material for defects prior to and after processing.
Ensures processes are achieving goals for output, downtime, and scrap.
Accurately reports production activity through system transactions, written documents, and reports.
Communicates machine maintenance and / or performance issues to Manager.
Ensures proper guarding and safety devices are functioning and in use.
Provides coverage as needed in other areas within or outside of the department.
May work overtime, alternate shifts and weekends as needed on short notice.
Performs other duties as assigned.
