Machine Shop Manager (Value Stream Manager - Large format)

Oxford Solutions is working with a manufacturing client seeking a Machine Shop Value Stream Manager to lead operations for a large-scale machining environment.

This role is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong machine shop management experience, large-scale machining exposure, and the ability to manage daily production while supporting long-term facility growth, project selection, financial performance, and business expansion.

Responsibilities

• Lead the growth and execution of the machine shop value stream strategy while overseeing daily operational performance
• Manage daily operations across production, maintenance, quality, materials, and logistics to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met
• Support a safety-first culture by maintaining compliance with all safety standards
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team across production, quality, supply chain, and engineering support functions
• Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve flow, shorten setup times, and increase efficiency
• Track and improve key performance metrics related to equipment performance, productivity, labor efficiency, scrap reduction, cost control, and on-time delivery
• Manage financial performance for the value stream, including budget ownership, P&L responsibility, cost reduction, labor planning, overhead, expenses, and capital spending
• Partner with supply chain, engineering, quality, and commercial teams to improve scheduling, material flow, production readiness, and customer responsiveness
• Support new product introduction, facility ramp-up, process development, and production scale-up for large-scale machining operations
• Identify and implement advanced manufacturing processes, automation opportunities, and smart manufacturing technologies to improve quality, throughput, and cost efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field
• 10+ years of machine shop management experience (large-scale machining experience highly preferred)
• At least 5 years in a leadership role within a complex manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of machining operations, manufacturing processes, and production flow
• Experience managing operational financial performance, including P&L responsibility
• Experience with project evaluation, project selection, or operational planning
• Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational problem-solving
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems
• Strong leadership, team-building, communication, and talent development skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and shop floor teams
