As a Machine Shop Supervisor at Excelsior, a Ryerson Family of Companies, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of shop operations, including but not limited to day-to-day scheduling and shop floor supervision, assistance with technical questions or issues, and processing of customer RFQs and POs.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Understand production goals and implement actions necessary to meet objectives.
• Carry out and support company policies, goals, and objectives.
• Review shop supply inventory and advise purchasing when levels are low.
• Communicate with other departments as well as other locations as needed.
• Support sales efforts which may require communication directly with customers.
• Understand customer requirements and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing equipment.
• Provide direction and coaching in safe work practices; support safety goals.
• Assist with responses to customer RFQs in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and issue vendor POs to purchase material for shop jobs or other items as needed.
• Process customer POs and input orders into Excelsiors system to allow for efficient production of shop floor jobs.
• Create and communicate detailed job travelers to the shop floor and QC in order to ensure accurate production of customer jobs.
• Help resolve open technical issues with current shop floor jobs; assist and back up QC as needed.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of previous machining experience in a CNC job shop environment.
• Very strong technical experience in a high-tolerance, high-precision machining environment.
• High School Diploma / GED is required.
• College Education preferred.
• A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience communicating with customers in a professional manner.

Salary $70,918.85 - $106,378.27 annually. A starting salary higher than $70,918.85 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
