Job Title:Machine Shop Supervisor

Shift:2^nd shift

Pay Range: $40-$50/hr. DOE

Location: Riverside, CA.

Arrow Staffing is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to lead daily production activities within a precision machining environment supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring active involvement on the production floor, including machine setups, troubleshooting machining issues, supporting machinists and setup personnel, coordinating workflow, and ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met.

The ideal candidate will have extensive machining knowledge, strong leadership experience, and the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment while maintaining high standards for quality and production.

General Job Duties for the Machine Shop Supervisor

• Supervise and coordinate daily operations within the CNC machining department.

• Lead by example through active participation on the production floor.

• Assign work based on production priorities, employee skill levels, and delivery schedules.

• Monitor workflow and machine utilization to meet production targets and customer commitments.

• Drive accountability for safety, quality, efficiency, and housekeeping standards.

• Conduct shift meetings and communicate production goals, priorities, and updates.

• Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to machinists, setup personnel, and operators.

• Support complex machine setups, tooling selection, and troubleshooting.

• Work closely with CNC Programmers, Quality, Engineering, and Production Control to resolve manufacturing issues.

• Monitor machine condition and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.

• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

Specific Job Duties or Requirements

• Minimum 15 years of experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment.

• Minimum 10 years of leadership or supervisory experience in machining operations.

• Aerospace and defense manufacturing experience required.

• Experience operating and supporting CNC milling and/or turning equipment.

• In-depth knowledge of machining practices, setups, tooling, feeds and speeds, and manufacturing processes.

• Strong understanding of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace manufacturing requirements.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and technical drawings.

• Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple production demands in a fast-paced environment.

• Working knowledge of shop math and machining calculations.

• ERP/MRP and manufacturing documentation experience preferred.

• Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC machining centers preferred.

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

• High-mix, low-volume aerospace manufacturing leadership experience preferred.

Quality & AS9100 Responsibilities

• Ensure manufacturing activities comply with AS9100 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures.

• Enforce adherence to documented work instructions, process controls, and inspection requirements.

• Promote a quality-first culture focused on defect prevention and right-first-time manufacturing.

• Support corrective action investigations and containment activities when needed.

• Ensure proper traceability, documentation accuracy, and handling of nonconforming material.

• Support first-article inspections and in-process verification activities.
