Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Domestic DIB, MRTFB Direct Hire Authority. Responsibilities You will operate conventional and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform a specific machining operation in the machining of castings, forgings, or other raw stocks made of metals or other materials to complete work assignments. You will follow detailed instructions concerning the location of necessary dimensions on blueprints, sequence of machine operations, machine feeds/speeds, tools to be used, alignment processes, and predetermined machine dimensions. You will use precision and semi-precision measuring instruments (i.e. micrometers, vernier height and depth gages, indicators, etc) to complete tasks. You will use a variety of standard machine attachments and equipment to produce work to dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes specified in technical directives, work orders, or instructions received from the supervisor or higher graded worker. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision such as: Setting up and operate all types of conventional machines and tools in the manufacture, rework, and repair of aircraft components or other items for various Fleet Equipment (F/E), and fleet support work; Operating one or more conventional and/or computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform a specific machining operation in the machining of castings, forgings, or other raw stock made of various metals, metal alloys, and other materials, to complete work assignments; Controlling the machine feeds and speeds, change and use different cutting tools for successive operations, and makes minor changes in machine settings to maintain sizes or shape of the workplace; AND Performing machine operations on conventional and/or CNC machine tools such as lathes, boring mills, milling machines, grinding machines, shapers, planners, or radial drills after the machine has been set up and checked for proper operation by a higher grade worker.
