Review job orders, blueprints, process sheets, and layouts to determine machining requirements, sequence of operations, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
Position and secure workpieces using tables, angle plates, vises, chucks, and other appropriate fixtures; select and install required tooling.
Set machine feeds, speeds, depth of cut, tooling, and workpiece positioning to meet job specifications.
Operate machining equipment, including machines with automatic positioning controls, to produce components within specified tolerances.
Perform CNC programming using Mazatrol and Fanuc G-code, utilizing Visi Software as required.
Lay out reference lines and machining locations on workpieces according to blueprints and specifications.
Inspect and verify finished dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, telescoping gauges, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and precision positioning devices.
Perform machining operations to close tolerances while monitoring product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while following all quality, safety, and workplace policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Journeyman Machinist certification, successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, or 3 to 5 years of skilled machining experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude and machining skills.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
Basic math and reading skills.
Knowledge of high-speed carbide tooling and precision measuring equipment.
Ability to safely operate an overhead crane and forklift.
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment while complying with applicable quality and safety requirements.
Must possess the necessary machinist tools, measuring devices, and small hand tools.
Must be available to work second shift and overtime, including weekends, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Mazatrol and/or Fanuc programming.
Previous lathe machining experience.
