The position offers opportunities on multiple shifts, with structured training to learn established processes and technologies.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate a variety of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines, cutters, and work-holding tools to produce precision parts according to specifications.

Calculate dimensions and tolerances using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, portable CMM, and FARO arms to verify product conformance.

Machine parts to specification using 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines while maintaining tight tolerances and surface finish requirements.

Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operations as outlined in setup documentation.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines in accordance with setup instructions.

Measure, examine, and test completed parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, go/no-go gauges, air gauges, and FARO arms to ensure conformance to customer requirements.

Monitor machine feed and speed during machining operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.

Maintain machine tools and production equipment in proper operational condition, including performing routine equipment maintenance and replacing worn components.

Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine product conformance and machining requirements.

Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency and confirm that setups and programs run as intended.

Diagnose machine tool malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments, repairs, or maintenance.

Collaborate with engineering, supervisory, inspection, and quality personnel to verify technical information and resolve machining issues.

Fit and assemble fixtures and cutters to manufacture or repair customer products as required.

Handle and move parts, components, and materials using pallet jacks or forklifts to designated areas in a safe and organized manner.

Assemble and disassemble electromechanical or hydraulic systems, machine tools, parts, or fixtures for production or maintenance.

Install mechanical components in production equipment and mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.

Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations, separating scrap and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.

Inspect equipment for safety hazards using a 6S checklist and verify calibration and offset alignment of production equipment.

Verify certification and readiness of inspection equipment prior to use.

Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications to improve efficiency, quality, and adaptability following Kaizen and continuous improvement principles.

Apply active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to understand new information and improve processes.

Read and interpret work instructions, written documentation, and technical information accurately and consistently.

Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, both verbally and in writing, to convey information, report issues, and support team goals.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 6 months machining experience in a production or machine shop environment.

Ability to set up and run 3-, 4-, and 5-axis numerical control machines; 1–2 years of experience running 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machines is preferred.

Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.

Experience operating or working with 5-axis CNC machines on 2nd or 3rd shift is strongly preferred.

Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances and apply basic and applied mathematics to machining tasks.

Strong reading comprehension skills to understand blueprints, drawings, engineering information, and work-related documents.

Experience with equipment maintenance, including performing routine maintenance and identifying when maintenance is needed.

Skill in operation monitoring and operation and control of CNC equipment and related systems.

Experience with quality control analysis, including conducting tests and inspections of products and processes.

Troubleshooting skills to determine causes of operating errors and decide appropriate corrective actions.

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written form.

Comfort working with scientific and technical methods to solve machining and process-related problems.
