    • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent fabricating.
    • Studies drawings, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of what will be the finished work piece.
    • Fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machining ability of materials, and layout techniques.
    • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
    • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
    • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, dimensions and alignment of assembly.
    • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plates, hand tools, and power tools.
    • Installs machined replacement parts into mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and performs tests to ensure functionality and performance.
    • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve machining and assembly problems

    Level 1:Operate basic shop equipment (band saw, grinders, drill press, etc.). Load, remove, and perform basic editing, as needed, of CNC programs. Set-up machine tools per instructions. Read and interpret detailed setup sheets, blueprints, and part drawings. Using measuring equipment, verify work performed is to part print or company standards of acceptability. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Record daily work performed. Works under moderate supervision.

    Qualifications

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience:Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school) is required. CNC Machinist with job shop experience. Manual machining, lathe and mill background is a must. In addition, experience with Fadal VMC and Thermwood CNC Router machines a plus.

    Computer Skills:Knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
