Job Full Description

CNC Machinist Level 1

Position Summary:
Entry-level CNC machinist responsible for loading/unloading parts in 3-5 axis CNC mill and lathe machines to produce aerospace components. Works under direct supervision and performs basic inspections, deburring, and routine machine maintenance. Typically requires 0-2 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate CNC machines by loading/unloading parts in various fixtures
  • Perform in-process inspections using basic measuring tools
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
  • Conduct basic deburring (edge breaking, surface blending)
  • Monitor coolant/lubrication levels and perform minor maintenance
  • Accurately track production using shop systems
  • Follow all work instructions and quality standards
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Basic shop math (fractions, decimals)
  • Familiarity with hand tools, inspection tools, and part handling
  • Ability to read/write English and use basic computer/CNC controls
  • Understanding of mechanical processes and safe equipment use
Experience & Education:
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
