PGS Worldwide is seeking a Machinist in Mesa, AZ for an onsite contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Machinist will set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machine tools to produce metal parts, mechanisms, tools, and related components to exact tolerances and dimensions. This role requires strong CNC machining experience in a production environment, blueprint interpretation, precision measuring skills, and the ability to maintain quality, safety, and cleanliness standards in a manufacturing setting.
Required Skills
5+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment.
Experience setting up and running CNC lathes and mills.
Ability to adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts.
Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
Experience using machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Ability to inspect parts for conformance using gages, calipers, micrometers, and related measuring tools.
Ability to visually inspect parts for burrs or damaged machined surfaces.
Basic computer skills for work instructions and timekeeping.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 lbs.
Ability to follow company policies and procedures, especially safety rules.
Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Preferred Skills
8–10 years of machining experience on lathes and mills.
Experience applying lean concepts and tools in a manufacturing environment.
Experience maintaining equipment for cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
Experience working in a team environment and collaborating on problem solving.
What You’ll Do
Set up and operate CNC lathes, CNC mills, and other machine tools.
Determine sequence of operations, required cuts, and setup methods.
Use tooling, feeds, speeds, and standard shop computations to complete machining work.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points for machining.
De-burr and inspect parts using standard inspection equipment.
Monitor and verify quality according to control procedures.
Identify improvement opportunities and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
Work Schedule / Shift
Monday-Thursday, 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM.
Pay
$40.00 per hour
