Machinist Technician

Job Summary

We are currently seeking skilled CNC machinists to join our team at the Commercial Flight Controls Division facility in Ogden, UT. The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC machines and producing precision parts. This full-time position offers opportunities for growth and development. Responsibilities

• Set up and operate various conventional and/or numerically controlled machining centers on complex jobs.
• Work from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and engineering, tooling, or equipment information.
• Contribute to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Run multiple machines efficiently, requiring simultaneous operations.
• Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machines for diversified production operations with close tolerances.
• Interpret customer requirements from blueprints, complex drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Interface with engineering to resolve drawing errors and suggest design changes.
• Implement manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling.
• Make complex setups with multiple workpiece stations and custom holding devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining problems.
• Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
• Perform statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
• Use advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and general knowledge of metal characteristics.
• Provide guidance in coordinating workload priorities based on business demand.
• Train and mentor less experienced team members.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervisory guidance and handle multiple tasks with changing priorities.
• May require specialized certification specific to division requirements.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, complex drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Skilled in making and evaluating precision machine setups.
• Knowledgeable in advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
• Able to implement lean initiatives and demonstrate effective communication skills.
• Proficient in using job-specific software applications and employee self-service systems.

Wage, Schedule, & Benefits

• Weekend Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5 am - 5 pm (36 hours) with shift differential.
• Swing Shift: Monday to Thursday, 3 pm - 1:30 am.
• Benefits starting day one.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity and the ability to use hands to operate machinery are required. Specific vision abilities include close vision. Regular attendance and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others are expected. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
