Position Summary

Aeromotive is seeking a skilled Machinist / Tool & Die Maker to join our team in Lenexa, Kansas. This is a full-time, hourly position reporting directly to the Production Supervisor.

The Machinist / Tool & Die Maker is responsible for manufacturing, modifying, repairing, and improving production tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids that support efficient and high-quality production operations. This role requires strong manual machining skills, the ability to fabricate precision components, and the capability to reverse engineer existing parts and assemblies when engineering drawings are unavailable.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of developing practical manufacturing solutions with minimal supervision. This position plays a key role in supporting production efficiency, continuous improvement initiatives, and the overall success of manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Make, modify, repair, and improve production fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids.
• Operate manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport mills and manual lathes.
• Fabricate replacement parts and components to support manufacturing operations.
• Reverse engineer existing parts, fixtures, and assemblies when engineering drawings are unavailable.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and timely.
• Perform assigned 5S activities and support workplace organization, cleanliness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to support manufacturing objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience operating Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, and other machine shop equipment.
• Ability to reverse engineer parts, fixtures, and assemblies without engineering prints or drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Experience with machining, fabrication, fixture building, and tooling modifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Technical school training, machining certification, tool & die apprenticeship, or related trade education preferred.
• Minimum of three years of machining, tool & die, fabrication, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Full-Time, Hourly Position

  • Monday–Friday

  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Onsite in Lenexa, Kansas

  • Reports to the Production Supervisor

  • $30.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on experience
