    Your role and responsibilities:

    The Tool Room is responsible for machining, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling, fixtures, and components used in manufacturing and general operations. This role requires expertise in CNC and manual machining, blueprint reading, and precision measurement techniques. The machinist will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to support tooling needs, troubleshoot issues, and improve manufacturing efficiency.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Machining and Tooling Fabrication

      • Operate manual and CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) to fabricate tooling and components.

      • Program, set up, and run CNC machines using G-code.

      • Modify and repair molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures as instructed.

      • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure part accuracy.

    • Tooling Maintenance and Troubleshooting

      • Diagnose and repair worn or damaged tooling, ensuring production continuity.

      • Perform preventative maintenance on fixtures and cutting tools.

      • Work with engineers and production teams to identify and resolve tooling issues.

    • Blueprint Interpretation and Documentation

      • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.

      • Track and report time worked on tooling and fixture projects.

    • Shop Organization and Inventory Management

      • Maintain proper storage and organization of tools following 5S principles.

    • Safety and Compliance

      • Follow company safety guidelines and proper handling of cutting fluids, chemicals, and materials.

      • Ensure all machine guarding and PPE requirements are followed.

    Qualifications for the role:

    • Required

      • High school diploma or equivalent.

      • 3+ years of experience in a machining, tool room, or mold-making environment.

      • Proficiency in CNC and manual machining (lathes, mills, etc.)

      • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.

      • Ability to troubleshoot and repair tooling with minimal supervision.

      • Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)

      • Understanding of material properties, heat treatment, and machining best practices.

    • Preferred (but not required):

      • Experience in injection mold repair and maintenance.

      • Knowledge of MasterCAM, Creo, or DraftSight.

      • Welding and fabrication experience (MIG/TIG).

      • Lean manufacturing or 5S experience.


    Benefits:

    While hourly pay rate is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay starting between $27.50-$31/hour. 1st shift hours are 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM Monday – Friday.
