Purpose and Scope
Responsible for receiving, sorting, collecting, preparing, and distributing intra-district and U.S. mail and packages according to established schedules.
Essential Job Functions
- Receives, sorts and distributes incoming mail District wide, may drive a vehicle to various sites to conduct work.
- Sorts, weighs, packages, stamps, meters and insures mail items as needed; learns and applies appropriate related postal regulations, including bulk, express and certified mail; participates in bulk mailing activities; performs arithmetic calculations accurately.
- Processes outgoing mail from the District Office, using cost-effective and time-efficient methods.
- Pick-up and delivers departmental mail daily.
- Maintains computerized records of mailroom transactions and employee lists; prepares routine reports and submits to appropriate administrator.
- Operates a computer, postage meter and other mailroom equipment and tools, and standard office equipment as assigned.
- Performs clerical duties related to the preparation and distribution of mail relates items.
- Wraps and prepares parcels and boxes for shipment.
- Provides information to personnel regarding postal, UPS, Federal Express, and other vendor rates and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a High School diploma or GED.
Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
