Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong production support expertise to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM, along with a strong background in L1/L2 production support, incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
The candidate should be comfortable working in an SLA-driven environment, collaborating with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams, and participating in on-call and weekend support rotations.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide L1/L2 production support for Mainframe applications.
· Monitor batch jobs and resolve job abends, failures, and application issues within defined SLA timelines.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and scheduling tools.
· Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring production issues.
· Manage Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management activities.
· Lead Major Incident Management (MIM) and bridge calls during critical production outages.
· Execute emergency fixes, production deployments, and post-deployment validation activities.
· Coordinate with business users, onsite teams, offshore teams, and cross-functional support teams to resolve production issues.
· Identify and implement automation and process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, support runbooks, knowledge articles, and other support artifacts.
· Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
· Participate in on-call and weekend support rotations as required.
· Ensure adherence to SLA requirements and ITIL-based service management processes.
· Communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams during incidents and production issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications
· 8+ years of experience in Mainframe development and production support.
· Strong hands-on experience with:
o COBOL
o JCL
o DB2
o CICS
o VSAM
· Strong experience in Mainframe application production support.
· Experience troubleshooting batch jobs, job abends, application failures, and production incidents.
· Experience with scheduling tools and batch processing environments.
· Strong knowledge of Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.
· Experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
· Experience working in SLA-driven production support environments.
· Knowledge of ITIL processes and Service Management best practices.
· Strong customer-facing and stakeholder communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively with onsite, offshore, business, and cross-functional teams.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience leading Major Incident Management (MIM) activities.
· Experience with production deployments and emergency fixes.
· Experience driving automation and operational process improvements.
· Experience creating technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge management artifacts.
· Previous experience mentoring junior Mainframe developers/support engineers.
