Job Title: Mainframe DevOps Engineer (SCM Migration SME IBM Z)Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DevOps Engineer / SCM Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support large-scale application modernization initiatives on IBM Z.
This role focuses on migrating legacy SCM tools (e.g., Endevor) to modern solutions like DBB, Git, and IDz/IDD, building CI/CD pipelines, and enabling client teams through training and hands-on guidance.
The ideal candidate combines deep mainframe expertise with modern DevOps practices and strong client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and execute SCM migration projects from CA Endevor and similar tools to DBB/Git/IDD
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize DBB, Git, and IDD environments on z/OS
- Analyze, convert, and validate applications managed in legacy SCM systems
- Design, build, and troubleshoot mainframe CI/CD pipelines using Groovy, YAML, Git, and DBB
- Work hands-on with z/OS technologies including JCL, COBOL, PL/I, VSAM, and QSAM during migrations
- Deliver client training sessions and develop supporting technical documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful modernization outcomes
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to DBB/Git/IDD conversion and pipeline execution
Required Skills & Qualifications- Strong background in z/OS, mainframe development, or systems programming
- Proven experience with installation, migration, and troubleshooting on IBM Z platforms
- Hands-on experience with Groovy and YAML scripting
- Strong expertise with Git (repositories, branching strategies, merges)
- Experience building and debugging CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve DBB/Git/IDD migration issues
- Excellent communication skills with customer-facing experience
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience in mainframe systems programming or development
- 4+ years of experience in client-facing or consulting roles
- Experience with SCM modernization, DevOps practices, or application lifecycle management on the mainframe
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with globally distributed teams
