Must-Have Skills

Expert in SMP/E and Non-SMP/E installation of ISV products
Expert in IBM and Broadcom software installation and upgrades
Advanced z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools
z/OS V2.5 or later upgrades and z/OSMF workflow execution
IODF/HCD skills for adding new devices
Sysplex and configuration management good to have
Strong JCL and IBM Utilities: IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, AMASPZAP, DFDSS
ISPF/TSO
Basic REXX/CLIST
Design project plans for upgrades, maintenance, and decom with stakeholder task lists and timelines
Formulate project roadmaps with all prerequisites for completion

Responsibilities

Perform z/OS system programming, configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E
Install and maintain vendor/ISV software
Execute z/OS OS upgrades and RSU maintenance through z/OSMF workflows
Architect, install, and configure complex z/OS and third-party software environments
Support software standardization and new feature implementations
Provide z/OS perspective support for storage, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures
Collaborate with Mainframe System Programmers across tracks to enhance the environment
Troubleshoot issues, support team members, drive innovative improvements, and make technical decisions
Identify and implement z/OS system/process improvements
Work with application support teams and internal customers on business initiatives
