Title: Mainframe Systems Programmer / DBA
Location:Downey, CA – Onsite
Duration: 12+ Months
100% onsite with approximately 10% travel to local data centers.
 
Job Description:
We are seeking a senior Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA to support complex database and mainframe system software projects, including installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, implementation, maintenance, and performance optimization.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support IBM z/OS database environments including DB2, IMS, and ADABAS.
• Perform database upgrades, administration, performance monitoring, capacity planning, backup/recovery, replication, and reorganization.
• Support logical and physical database design and provide technical guidance to application and operations teams.
• Work with mainframe system software, networking, hardware, and data center environments.
• Support migrations, cabling, and infrastructure upgrades at data centers as needed.

 
Required Skills:

• 7+ years of Mainframe Systems Programming/DBA experience, including 3+ years in a lead role.
• Strong IBM z/OS, DB2, IMS, ADABAS, SMP/E, and JCL experience.
• Experience with CICS, IMS DB/DC, ACF2, REXX/COBOL/Assembler and mainframe tools.
• 5+ years within the last 8 years of z/OS Networking, HCD, IODF, z/OSMF, LU 6.2, and mainframe hardware experience.
• 5+ years of DS8884 and TS7760C hardware management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for occasional data center travel.
