Position Summary

The Maintenance 1 position is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs in various areas such as buildings, equipment, and grounds. The position entails responsibility for repairing and maintaining facilities and equipment, encompassing a variety of basic maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, fixture changes, carpet repair, and general upkeep. The role involves supporting Maintenance II with filter changes and other HVAC duties, as well as aiding Maintenance III with minimal tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Assists Maintenance II employees with troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems that incorporate pneumatic, digital and central energy management system controls.

•Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, and promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environment practices.

•Communicates status of various work orders, work in progress, supply balances and observed problem areas to supervisor, and requests inventory parts and supplies.

•Performs routine maintenance on facilities, which includes basic repair, replacing light fixtures and filters, hanging white boards and other general duties; and assists in completing checklists on building equipment and maintenance.

•Performs routine renovation duties, which includes painting, graffiti clean-up, replacing or repairing drywall and ceiling tiles and tile and baseboard removal or installation

•Assists in wall removal, wall framing with wood and metal studs, sheet rocking, taping, texturing and painting as needed

•Assists with door hanging, glass replacement, concrete pouring and stucco application as needed.

•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience and successful completion of Commercial HVAC Certification and EPA Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Upon successful completion of HVAC and EPA Certification and two (2) years of related experience, Maintenance I employees are automatically considered for reassignment into a Maintenance II position.
  • This position requires a valid unrestricted New Mexico Driver's License.
