Job Description and Duties

MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / CALAVERAS BIG TREES STATE PARK

"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program)."

The Maintenance Aide works under the direct supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor of Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The reporting location for this position is Calaveras Big Trees Maintenance office located in Arnold CA.

The Maintenance Aide works daily on campground maintenance with oversight from permanent Park Maintenance staff. Primary responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: Must possess knowledge of basic operation and/or maintenance of building facilities, tools, equipment, and vehicles; lead responsibilities, and basic principles of dealing with employees and the public, and safe work methods; follow instructions; work independently; establish and maintain cooperative relations with the general public and other employees; identify problems and take corrective action with facilities and operations; provide leadership; interact successfully with the public and address their concerns and perform heavy sustained physical work.

This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Working Conditions

Primarily working outdoors and travelling between park units. This is a uniformed classification; uniform standards may be found in the Uniform Handbook. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as necessary. Prolonged standing, bending and sitting. Work inside and outside, in varying climates and temperatures. Transporting equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Frequent walking on even and uneven surfaces
