Job Description

Join our team and play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical wastewater treatment and collection system assets. The Maintenance Analyst Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This position works closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and warehouse staff to optimize work execution, improve asset reliability, manage maintenance data, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and committed to delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced utility environment.

About You:

The ideal Maintenance Analyst Planner is a highly organized and proactive professional who combines strong technical knowledge of maintenance operations with exceptional planning, analytical, and communication skills. They are capable of developing detailed work plans, coordinating resources, managing maintenance backlogs, and using CMMS data to drive efficiency and reliability improvements. A successful Maintenance Analyst Planner understands preventive, predictive, corrective, and reactive maintenance practices and can effectively prioritize work based on risk, operational impact, and available resources. They collaborate closely with operations, maintenance staff, engineering, and procurement personnel to ensure work is properly scoped, planned, scheduled, and documented. Most importantly, they use data and performance metrics to identify trends, improve asset reliability, optimize maintenance strategies, and support informed decision-making across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative functions of maintenance management system
  • Enters, updates, and maintains data and scheduling information in the maintenance management system
  • Compiles and tracks benchmark and key performance indicator data used in decision-making
  • Research equipment maintenance needs; develops and manages equipment database and inputs maintenance requirements
  • Monitors procedural operations and identifies areas for process improvement
  • Research, prepare and modify maintenance procedures and job plans
  • Monitors maintenance procedures effectiveness
  • Coordinates and addresses computerized maintenance management system CMMS training needs

Typical Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Associates Degree or 2 Years of College in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field; 3 to 5 years' experience in utility system asset management, inventory control, or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Preferred Qualification:

  • Desired Maintenance Technologist - Grade III Level Certification (or ability to obtain within 3 years) or comparable

Work Environment and Physical Effort:

Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor environment. Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment, street environment (near moving traffic), construction sites, in a vehicle, warehouse and shop environment.

Work Exposures:

Employees may occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), and loud noises (85-decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and construction).
