POSITION DESCRIPTION

The National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) seeks a Temporary Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator to support campus operations during a period of transition and growth. This position is responsible for coordinating day-to-day facility operations, supporting custodial services, responding to maintenance needs, assisting with vendor coordination, and helping ensure that campus facilities remain safe, clean, and functional for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service oriented, and comfortable balancing administrative coordination with hands-on facilities support.

This is a temporary, full-time position expected to begin in July 2026 and conclude in September 2026. Continued employment beyond the assignment period is not guaranteed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilities Coordination

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for routine facilities requests from faculty, staff, students, and tenants.
  • Receive, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance and custodial work orders.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of campus facilities to identify maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and operational concerns.
  • Track and document facilities issues, repairs, and project progress.
  • Coordinate access for vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Assist with event setup, room configurations, furniture moves, and campus logistics.
  • Support building access, key management, and facilities-related communications.

Maintenance Support

  • Perform minor maintenance and repair tasks, including:

  • Replacing light bulbs

  • Minor painting and touch-up work

  • Furniture assembly and repair

  • Basic plumbing and fixture adjustments

  • Replacing ceiling tiles

  • General building upkeep

  • Assist in identifying maintenance needs and escalating larger repairs to appropriate vendors or contractors.

  • Monitor building systems and report issues requiring specialized service.

  • Support preventative maintenance activities and campus improvement projects.

Custodial Oversight

  • Coordinate with custodial staff and contractors to ensure campus cleanliness standards are maintained.
  • Conduct inspections of classrooms, offices, common areas, restrooms, and shared spaces.
  • Monitor custodial supply inventories and assist with ordering and restocking supplies.
  • Address urgent cleanliness issues and assist with cleanup as needed.
  • Ensure waste and recycling areas remain organized and functional.

Campus Operations

  • Assist with move management, furniture relocations, and departmental space adjustments.
  • Support safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Respond to routine facilities emergencies and coordinate appropriate response.
  • Assist with loading dock operations, deliveries, surplus management, and inventory organization.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in facilities, maintenance, operations, property management, custodial supervision, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in higher education, commercial facilities, property management, or institutional operations.
  • Experience coordinating vendors or contractors.
  • Experience with work order management systems.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Knowledge of building systems, custodial operations, and OSHA safety practices preferred.
