Maintenance & Reliability Manager

1st Shift | $125,000-$140,000 | Onsite

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance & Reliability Manager to lead and elevate maintenance and reliability performance within a capital-intensive, heavy manufacturing environment. This is a strategic, engineering-focused leadership role responsible for driving equipment reliability, advancing a best-in-class Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program, and implementing data-driven reliability initiatives.

This role goes beyond traditional maintenance management, requiring a leader who can analyze systems, optimize asset performance, and build a proactive reliability culture. The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering foundation, deep experience with reliability practices, and the ability to lead both people and programs at a high level.

The Maintenance & Reliability Manager will oversee preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies, reduce downtime and production losses, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites. This position manages approximately 16 direct reports and balances technical leadership (40%) with strategic and people leadership (60%).

We are seeking candidates with deep experience in heavy manufacturing environments and a strong background in reliability engineering and maintenance program development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own and advance the site's reliability strategy, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Design and implement scalable maintenance and reliability systems, ensuring consistency across multiple plants.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) to eliminate recurring failures.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to improve asset utilization, uptime, and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance metrics to identify trends and drive proactive solutions.
  • Lead the evolution of the CMMS (MaintainX) as a reliability and planning tool, including asset data integrity, work order optimization, and spares strategy.
  • Develop and manage a critical spares and asset strategy aligned with reliability goals and risk mitigation.
  • Support capital projects with a focus on equipment reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost optimization.
  • Champion initiatives such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement programs, including Gemba walks and Kaizen events.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Lead and execute reliability-focused projects, including system upgrades, automation improvements, and predictive technologies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field strongly preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability engineering, or asset management within heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success in building or leading reliability programs—not just maintenance execution.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance or reliability teams.
  • Strong expertise in predictive maintenance technologies, reliability tools, and failure analysis methodologies (RCA, FMEA, RCM).
  • Experience implementing or advancing TPM or reliability-centered maintenance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to use data and analytics to drive decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (MaintainX preferred) with a focus on system optimization and data integrity.
  • Strong technical acumen with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Financial acumen related to maintenance cost optimization and capital planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with PLCs, AutoCAD, or ERP systems is a plus.

What Sets This Role Apart:
  • Focus on engineering and reliability leadership, not just maintenance supervision.
  • Opportunity to build and enhance a best-in-class reliability program.
  • High visibility role with impact across multiple sites and leadership teams.
  • Emphasis on data-driven decision-making and long-term asset strategy.
